This post is the official notes page for Video 1 of the PHP & MySQL Website Development Course by Coding Cush. In this course we do not just study PHP theory. We build one complete, real website together, step by step and video by video, and in the final video we put it live on the internet. Video 1 is the introduction: you will see the finished website in a full demo tour, understand how every lesson works, and get the complete 30-video roadmap. The full video is embedded at the end of this post.
About This Course
Most PHP courses teach small, separate examples that never become a real project. This course is different. From the first video to the last, we work on a single website called SkillNest Academy — a dynamic institute website with public pages, a registration and login system, and a full admin dashboard. Every concept you learn is used immediately inside this project, so at the end you do not just "know PHP", you own a finished website that you built with your own hands.
The course is free, beginner friendly, and made for students and self-learners. There are 30 videos in 5 phases. If you are new to PHP, you may also like our beginner guide on how to connect PHP with a MySQL database, which we will use again and again in this course.
What You Will Build: SkillNest Academy
SkillNest Academy is a complete website for a training institute. By the end of the course it will have:
- A homepage where courses and posts load directly from a MySQL database
- A working search bar and a contact page with a message system
- User registration and login with hashed passwords and PHP sessions
- Protected private pages that only logged-in users can open
- An admin dashboard with full CRUD — create, read, update and delete posts
- Contact messages from visitors, readable inside the admin panel
- A live deployment on real hosting in the final phase
Nothing on this website is fake or hard-coded. Every page is powered by real PHP and MySQL code that you will write along with the videos.
Video 1 Notes: The Demo Tour
Video 1 opens with a full tour of the finished website, in three parts.
Part 1 — The homepage. You see the public face of SkillNest Academy: the navigation bar, the hero section, and course cards that come from the database. When we later add a course in the admin panel, it appears on the homepage automatically. That is the magic of a dynamic website, and it is why we connect PHP to MySQL instead of writing fixed HTML pages.
Part 2 — Registration and login. Visitors can create an account and log in. Passwords are never stored as plain text; they are stored safely with password hashing, exactly like real websites do. Our detailed guide on how to hash passwords in PHP explains the idea, and in this course you will build the full system yourself: registration, login, logout, sessions and security checks.
Part 3 — The admin dashboard. This is the part students love most. From the dashboard, the website owner can add, edit and delete posts, read contact messages and see simple statistics — all without touching any code. This is real CRUD, the heart of almost every PHP job and college project.
How Every Lesson Works
Every lesson in this course follows the same four signature parts, so you always know what is coming:
- The Flip Method. First we see the finished feature working, then we build it. You always know the goal before we write code.
- Bug of the Day. In every video we fix one common beginner mistake, so you learn what goes wrong and why.
- Your Turn. A small task at the end of each lesson, solved at the start of the next video.
- Viva Corner. One exam or interview question, answered in about 30 seconds — very useful for college vivas and job interviews.
Every lesson also gets a written notes post like this one on CodingCush.com, with the full explanation, so you can revise without rewatching the whole video.

Who This Course Is For
This course is made for complete beginners who have never written PHP, for college students who need a strong final-year project with viva answers, and for anyone who wants a real portfolio website built by their own hands. You need no experience at all. In Video 2 we install everything together, for free.
Your Turn #1
Your first task takes only 20 seconds: go to the comments of Video 1 and write your name plus the website you dream of building — a shop, a blog, your college project, anything. Writing your goal publicly makes you far more likely to finish the course, and reading your answers helps us shape the coming lessons.
Before Video 2
You do not need to install anything yet. Just keep a laptop or computer ready. In Video 2 we will install XAMPP (our free local server) and VS Code (our free code editor), start the server, and run your very first PHP page. If you have never seen PHP code before, do not worry — we start from absolute zero.
